Legends of Scapa Flow tells the extraordinary story of the greatest single day loss of naval ships in history. On 21st June 1919, General Rear Admiral Ludwig von Reuter ordered the crews of 74 battleships of the German High Seas Fleet to scuttle all ships that had been captured by the allied forces and stationed at Scapa Flow.

Pixie was invited by Captain Taigh MacManus to join the crew of explorer yacht Legend in the Orkney Islands to film them carrying out subsea explorations of Scapa Flow in their U-Boat Worx submarine. Our objective was to make a compelling film about why a charter onboard Legend is no ordinary yacht charter, but an endless opportunity for adventure - above and below the waves.

Legend, equipped with seabed scanning technology and their five-man submarine, worked alongside local historians, Scapa Flow wreck dive experts and the University of Dundee to discover what remains of the surviving warships resting on the seabed.

We tried hard to bring a different storytelling perspective to Legend and her adventure capabilities. We wanted to go deeper than the usual high-octane superyacht promo film. By following Legend uncover what lies beneath, by understanding the perspective of local experts, and by delving deep into the local historical film archive, we hope we have brought to life some of Legend’s capabilities and a sense of adventure in Legends of Scapa Flow.
